Harrison Bergeron Three

Kurt Vonnegut uses the story Harrison Bergeron to explain the future (2081). In this story he gives equality and takes individuality from all the citizens. By him doing so this puts everyone in the same level, no one has the upper hand in this goovernment.Giving everyone the same rights just frustrates the citizens because they cant express who they really are.Society can ensure citizens are equal without taking away their individualism because, it isn't possible for the government to control every last citizens individualism. Taking away individuality creates a battle freedom verses equality.

Harrison the protagonist of this story was declared the "perfect" person. He was very intelligent, he had tremandous strength, and he was good looking. All these strength had restrictions placed by the government to make everyone equal. The government placed headphones on Harrison's ears to distact him. They also placed three hundred pound weights on his body to restrict him from making any movements, and mask to hid his beauty. To top it all off he was forced to wear glasses, that caused him to have horrible headaches.

The government has a great impact on citizens, examples are shown in Harrisn Bergeron. After going dealin with all the pain and mesory Harrison finally finds the strength to escape and invade a televison station. shortly after the this invasion he commits sucide. If the government did not place all these restrictions on Harrison life would've been sucesssful for him. Taking away indivilality cause cios amongst citizens and citzens and citizens against the government.

This story proves that the government has a huge impact on citizens. Harrison Bergeron is an excellent story to show that citizens follow the government until, things get out of hand. Reading this short story should really open your eyes and gives you (the readers) that there are countries whom suffer from equality and an dictated governments.
